Student Secure - Smart (A.M. Best Rating: A) is a travel medical insurance plan created for international students studying abroad. It provides affordable medical coverage, emergency assistance, and student-focused healthcare benefits, making it an excellent entry-level option for students who need dependable protection while keeping monthly costs low. Coverage is available from 30 days to 365 days.

While in the U.S., after the deductible is satisfied within the United Healthcare PPO network, the plan will pay 80% of eligible medical expenses up to $100,000, then 100% thereafter, up to the policy maximum. Outside of the PPO network, the plan will pay 100% of the URC in eligible medical expenses, up to the policy maximum.

Student Secure - Smart does not cover pre-existing conditions. Student Secure - Smart includes acute onset coverage of pre-existing conditions up to $25,000 lifetime maximum for eligible medical expenses.

  • Not available if Home Country/Country of Residences are: Cuba (CUB), Iran (IRN), North Korea (PRK), Puerto Rico (PRI), Ukraine (UKR) & Virgin Islands (USA) (VIR).
  • Not available for Citizens of: Cuba (CUB) & Ukraine (UKR).
  • Not available for purchase if the traveler(s) is physically present in {us_states_restrictions_phys}. The policy will still cover the traveler(s) visiting and temporarily staying in these U.S. states.
